Before you can book a Practical Driving test you must have completed a car Theory test.
The local test centres for Edinburgh & Lothian are:
- Edinburgh (Currie)
- Edinburgh (Musselburgh)
- Peebles
- Dunfermline

The Practical test is set out to test your driving ability. It lasts for approximately 35-40 minutes and you will have to perform at least 2 out of 3 manoeuvres, either a Reverse Park (Parallel), Reverse Park (Parking Bay), Reverse round a Corner or a Turn in Road.
At present Musselburgh Test Centre is the only Multi-Purpose Test Centre (MPTC) in the area where you can be asked to do a reverse into a parking bay.
To pass your test you must not make any more than 15 driver faults, but if you make one Serious or Dangerous fault you will fail.
